A teenager's mind is like a major reconstruction site— powerful yet fragile, special yet confusing, constantly being rebuilt and reshaped.
Instead of judging children by the same standards we use for adults, or reacting to them emotionally,
we need to make an effort to stand where they stand and understand the confusion they are experiencing.
At Nova Academy, we strive to understand every student's journey and support their growth with patience and care.

The Real Meaning Behind “I Don’t Want To”
According to the research of Ross W. Greene and his book The Explosive Child:
A child’s “I don’t want to” is often not defiance.
It may come from anxiety, lack of problem-solving skills, or feeling unprepared.
Sometimes, “I don’t want to” really means:
“I’m afraid I might fail.”
“I don’t know how to do it.”
“I’m not ready yet.”
Instead of Saying…
❌ “Why do you always hate it?”
❌ “Other kids can do it.”
Try saying:
✅ “I see this feels hard for you. What worries you?”
✅ “What do you think would help?”
✅ “I’ll stay with you at the beginning.”
When we uncover the reason behind a child’s resistance,
we can begin to find a real solution together.
