READ/CHIC 326 is now a cross-list course! Class will count for both Reading Education Department, and Chicana/o Studies Department.

Undocumented Youth in Education will be taught by Dr. Julian Jeffries on the upcoming Spring 2022 semester! (WED 4
pm - 6:45 pm).

The course will elaborate on describes the literacy and educational experiences of undocumented youth of all ethnicities and national backgrounds in the United States between pre-K and college. We will explore literacy instruction for and about undocumented youth and educational policies regarding their rights and access to educational institutions education. Through readings, multimedia, class discussions, invited guests and writing assignments, students will reflect on, think critically about and investigate the way undocumented youth use non-traditional literacy practices to navigate their undocumented status.
