Join me for "AI For Creatives", a hands-on workshop exploring how artists, animators, designers, illustrators, and other creatives can use today’s AI tools to turn one idea into many possibilities.

In this FREE 3-hour workshop, we will explore the new “hybrid pipeline” professional artists are using to combine their artwork with AI as another creative tool. I’ll demystify what AI is, and what it is not, why we use LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude) to develop prompts, and AI platforms and their image, and video generators can transform a simple sketch into characters, props, environments, illustrations, consumer products, graphics, storyboards, and animation.

We’ll also discuss the legal and ethical issues surrounding AI and how artists can navigate the rapid changes taking place across the creative industries.

The Illustration program has been experiencing a great deal of success, and that’s not by accident. It’s the result of a deliberate strategy. And it doesn’t just apply to illustration.
Have you noticed that many of your longtime classmates are no longer here? Many of them have transferred to top-tier schools, and a significant number have received scholarships and other opportunities along the way.
The goal of this program is to prepare students for the next step in their educational and professional journey. We’re working to create a pathway that allows you to turn your passion into a career. There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to that process. Every student’s goals, strengths, and circumstances are different.
Since arriving at Fullerton, one of my core beliefs has been the importance of managing your own education. But we all need the tools. You’ve heard me talk about this often because it’s one of the most important skills you can develop.
I want us to have several thoughtful discussions about your goals, your plans, and the steps needed to get where you want to go. I’ll be looking for times that work with everyone’s schedules, and I encourage you to schedule one-on-one meetings with me as well. You can’t hit a target if you don’t know where the target is.
As we move further into the semester, likely around the middle to later part of the term, we’ll begin reviewing portfolios and identifying what needs to be strengthened, added, or refined to reach your goals.
I’ve always felt a sense of urgency when it comes to moving through your educational path effectively. I didn’t make the best decisions myself. In fact, I made a lot of mistakes. The advantage is that I learned from them, and I hope to help you avoid some of the same pitfalls.
I’ll also be announcing another component of the “Managing Your Education” initiative soon. I think it will be a valuable addition to helping you take ownership of your future and make informed decisions about your next steps.
