CSUF GEAR UP Increasing the rates of high school graduation and college enrollment in the Anaheim community. Department of Education since the GEAR UP program began in 1999.

The Cal State University, Fullerton GEAR UP Program partners with local schools, colleges, universities, and community partners to actively engage students, parents, teachers, faculty, and administrators to promote a college-going culture on junior high and high school campuses. Our services are designed to increase the number of students progressing onto higher education and to equip them to be successful in the baccalaureate and beyond. Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is committed to increasing the number of underrepresented students from low-income backgrounds who enter and succeed in postsecondary education. In partnership with AUHSD, the project currently serves 2 cohorts of students beginning the 7th grade and follows their successes through high school graduation. Cal State Fullerton has received three six-year grants from the U.S.

Last month, we celebrated National GEAR UP Week with all of you across all 5 of our school sites!

GEAR UP Week is about recognizing the power of preparation. It’s about showing students that college is possible, providing them with the tools they need to get there, and building a community that supports their success.

During GEAR UP Week, you gained valuable knowledge and resources through workshops designed to prepare you for your futures. You and your classmates also recognized and celebrated the effort you have made throughout your academic journeys. You also learned the importance of self-care as you face increasingly challenging obstacles. From the start of GEAR UP Week to the end, you have grown wiser, more confident, and better prepared for the journey ahead.
