How to Write a Limerick
You seed five lines in total, young poet.
Three anapests per line should sow it,

those come quicker, of course--
and rhyme AABBA, or you'll blow it.

Until then, check out these two limericks from President Virjee:
A Titan is true every time
No matter the mountain to climb
We dare to be great
And take hold of our fate
And with luster and laugher we shine.
There once was an old Prez named Fram
Who clearly was too much the Ham.
His rap was so bad
It made the kids sad
Good thing he was part of the Fam

Professor Blaine has THREE limericks for us today:
A Trio of Limericks on Donne and Jonson
Old Donne was often amused
At things that left others confused.
He was terribly clever,
But I think that he never
Liked leaving interpretive clues.
Ben Jonson preferred a plain style,
But seldom brings students a smile.
His lean verse and prose
Make some readers doze,
And others overtly hostile.
But some of us love to read both,
And I swear by my sincerest oath,
That if you persever,
In that grueling endeavor
The result is intellectual growth.

Take a peak at a little limerick from Dr. Dalley:
Streets full of muck, mud, and grit
A corseted woman having a fit
Gents in top hats
Slums and ramshackle flats
This is what you’ll get with Victorian lit

Here's a lovely limerick by Shakspearean genius, Kay Stanton:
When you’re asked, “Who’s the best sonneteer?”
Or “Whose drama will ne’er disappear?”
The answer’s not hard:
It’s always “The Bard.”
So let’s all cheer our lov’d Will Shakespeare!

But with each rising sun
No changes are done
Eh! I guess that it still does beat fighting.
