CSU Fullerton Department of History Historians engage in systematic study of the human past in order to discover meaning for people in the present.

The student of history may draw upon the subject matter and methods of many academic disciplines. Thus, social history employs the methods of the social sciences, including quantitative analysis, in examining social movements and issues in the past; psycho-history utilizes the approaches of psychology in the study of the behavior of historically significant individuals and groups; and the developm

ent of the various areas of human intellectual and cultural activity, for instance the arts and sciences, are studied to inform us of how and why people have thought as they did.

Prof. Cora Granata recently met up with her former grad student and History alum Jennifer Keil at the Holocaust Museum Orange County to discuss potential collaborations. Jennifer is currently developing the museum's expansion. While a student at CSUF, Jennifer conducted oral histories for Dr. Granata's From Hitler's Europe to the Golden State oral history project, and she is drawing on that training. The immersive Holocaust Museum Orange County will include oral histories and community-donated artifacts. Be a part of the story and learn more at holocaustmuseumoc.org

International City Theatre, a non-profit professional theatre in downtown Long Beach, has a show coming up next month called Conscience. It is about Margaret Chase Smith, who was the first woman from Maine elected to Congress and later to the U.S Senate. In 1950, she delivered her “Declaration of Conscience” and spoke out against Senator Joseph McCarthy and his fearmongering surrounding the Red Scare.

Tickets are normally $56, but they are offering a discounted price for college students of $10, good for any regular Thursday-Saturday show. Tickets can be purchased with the code “LEARN10”.
