Shondell Reed ’96 has been named new CSUF athletic director. Reed succeeds outgoing Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Jim Donovan, and brings sports leadership experience that includes work with the Pac-12 and Big Ten conferences and oversight of multiple NCAA Division I and III programs. CSUF is proud to partner with Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County in support of Hunger Action Month on Friday, September 4. The CSUF volunteer shift will take place from 12:30–3:00 p.m. and will include time to learn about Second Harvest’s mission and serve together as a Titan community. Wendy Saldivar TC ’10 was named one of six educators to receive the Orange County Department of Education’s 2027 Orange County Teacher of the Year award for her leadership and commitment to student success. She teaches fifth grade in Loara Elementary’s Spanish Dual Language Immersion program. Before entering education, she worked as a 911 operator, then completed CSUF’s multiple subject credential program and now has 12 years of teaching experience. Claudia Garcia MS ’15 has recently been appointed Community Development Director for the City of El Cerrito. She brings extensive experience across planning, building, code enforcement, and economic development, most recently serving as assistant director in Vacaville and previously as a principal planner/environmental review officer in Berkeley. Garcia is active with the APA Northern Section, holds AICP certification, and regularly presents at statewide conferences.
