Exploring the science beneath the surface!

Students in Mrs. Yannelli's environmental science classes visited Lovewell Pond this week to collect aquatic macroinvertebrates, such as dragonfly larvae. They used their findings to assess water quality through a biotic index, then compared their results with data from the pond association and nearby water organizations.

FA Students Head Outdoors for Fall Adventures

Last weekend, a group of students set out with the Outdoor Learning and Research Center (OLRC) for an overnight camp at Moose Brook State Park, where they set up their tents, practiced starting an outdoor campfire to cook their meals, and enjoyed the vibrant fall foliage during their hike in the picturesque Pinkham and Evans Notch. Several students also chose to mountain bike at Mt. Abram. At Fryeburg Academy, there are always plenty of ways to get outside and enjoy our beautiful fall weather.

Fall Athletic Programs Build Momentum at FA

September went by quickly, and our fall teams gave Raider Nation a lot to cheer about!

Cross country won both of their meets on September 24. Football finished the month with two straight wins, and varsity golf is heading into the postseason with a 9–3 record. Boys’ soccer starts in October at the top of Class B South. Girls' soccer, field hockey, and mountain biking are all working hard and building momentum.

Good luck to all our student-athletes and coaches as the season goes on. Go Raiders!

FA Welcomes GE International Agency

On Wednesday, September 23, Fryeburg Academy welcomed education agents from GE International for a campus tour. The group gathered in the newly redesigned Bion R. Cram Library and Learning Commons, where students shared their experiences at the Academy and performed music on the new stage. Guests also explored the Cram Cafe, sampling its variety of snacks, coffee, and beverages. The evening concluded with hors d'oeuvres and a specially prepared dinner prepared by Chef Johnny and his kitchen staff at the Fessenden House—always a highlight for both our guests and the community to experience the dining hall's exceptional cuisine.

Osgood Legacy Courtyard Rededicated

Fryeburg Academy recently celebrated the rededication of the Osgood Legacy Courtyard, with Osgood family members, friends, faculty, and staff in attendance.

Members of the Class of 1946 first dedicated the courtyard in honor of C. Earl "Bub” Osgood. In recent years, family members and friends have generously contributed funds to restore and expand the space and to include Bub's brother, James "Jim" Osgood '56, in the naming honor.
