This school week is ending in a memorable way for 2026-2027 Wicomico Teacher of the Year Dr. Chelsea Taylor, who will travel from James M. Bennett High to the Maryland Teacher of the Year Gala as one of seven finalists whose name could be called out at the end of the night as the winner.

Wicomico County Public Schools and the Wicomico County Board of Education are proud of this outstanding representative of Wicomico teachers. Here’s to an unforgettable night at the Maryland Teacher of the Year Gala for Dr. Taylor!

A Superintendent's Open Door Session will take place from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7. Time with Superintendent of Schools Dr. Micah Stauffer is on a first-come, first-served basis, at the school system's main office at 2424 Northgate Drive, Salisbury.

The next monthly meeting of the Wicomico County Board of Education is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2026, in the Board of Education Auditorium at 101 Long Ave., Salisbury.

For this Board meeting, the Board will convene at 1:00 p.m. and immediately vote to go into closed session. The open portion of the meeting will begin at about 1:30 p.m. The agenda for this meeting is available at https://wicomico-schools.community.highbond.com/Portal/

To register for public comments, please visit the pre-registration page (https://board_public_comments.wicomicoschools.org/), which is open from October 6 - 12. Anyone unable to pre-register online may visit the school system office at 2424 Northgate Drive during business hours to fill out a paper copy of the pre-registration form.

💙💛 Support Our Friend Nate and the Down Syndrome Association of Maryland Walk-A-Thon! 💙💛

The Fruitland Primary community is excited to help share information about an event that is very special to one of our school families.

On October 17, the Down Syndrome Association of Maryland's 2nd Annual Eastern Shore Walk-A-Thon will take place at Salisbury City Park. This event celebrates inclusion, raises awareness, and supports individuals with Down syndrome and their families throughout our community.

One of our own Fruitland Primary students, Nate, has a team called , and his family would love to see members of our school community come out to support this meaningful event.

If you're looking for a way to show your support, consider joining the walk, cheering on participants, or helping spread awareness about the importance of inclusion and acceptance for all.

We are proud of Nate and grateful to his family for sharing this opportunity with our school community. We hope many of our Fruitland Primary families will consider participating!

Wicomico County Public Schools is a CEP (Community Eligibility Provision) school system in which all students may eat meals at no charge.
