So pleased for these young men and women!! I was blessed to spend the first two years of this journey with them and have been watching and cheering for all of them from the sidelines ever since. TVCA is proof that classical education is for all students and all students can succeed given intentional, strategic, and systematic instruction.
Congratulations!!

With grateful hearts, we celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2026—the very first graduating class in the history of Treasure Valley Classical Academy.

Seven years ago, TVCA opened its doors with a vision to cultivate wisdom, virtue, and a lifelong love of learning. This weekend, that vision reached a milestone as our first seniors crossed the stage and received their diplomas.

As we celebrate the close of TVCA’s seventh year, we also celebrate a beginning. The Class of 2026 is the first of many graduating classes to come, and their achievement marks the start of a tradition that will continue for decades.

To our graduates: thank you for helping write the first chapter of this story. We are proud of you, grateful for you, and excited to see where your paths take you next.

The school year is nearly 75% complete...that means there is only 2-1/2 months left for students to meet their grade level reading expectations.
If a child is behind in MARCH, they will remain behind in MAY ... DO NOT WAIT to address reading struggles. Kids DO NOT make up reading loss without INTENSIVE, SYSTEMATIC, and DIRECT, ADDITIONAL instruction!

Prevention is key!! Teach kids to FOCUS first!! and catch their disorientations as they happen and correct them before they catch hold!!

Yes!! Read aloud - grow vocabulary!!

Mom/Dad, Grandma/Grandpa, Aunts/Uncles - take the time to read out loud and talk about what you are reading with the children in your world! Use big words, talk about word meaning, discuss what is happening in the story - ask the questions: Who? When? Where? What? and How? in the story. Ask for opinions and share your own!!

It is so important for students to realize that reading is not innate and takes specific focus, instruction and perseverance!!

This is one of the first things I share I with struggling students. It is important for them to realize that their brains are not somehow flawed and that no one is born knowing how to read!

TRUTH! Teaching students to be FULLY PRESENT - connecting their speed of thought, wandering imaginations, and physical bodies - allows them to control their emotions, access their memory, and become EFFICIENT and EFFECTIVE in their learning!

We know this first hand!
If a parent has attention/focus issues, was a poor reader or didn't "like to read" as a child chances are good that their children will experience the same.
