New data presented at examines the legacy effect of icosapent ethyl (IPE) in REDUCE-IT. Among highly adherent patients treated for at least 1.5 years, event reduction reached up to 30%. In the secondary prevention subgroup of patients who were on therapy for a mean of 2.3 years, a 27% relative risk reduction persisted over the next one to four years after therapy was prematurely discontinued.

What a night! On Thursday, July 30, the President's Reception officially kicked off the 2026 ASPC Congress on Cardiovascular Disease Prevention — and brought a fun, celebratory close to ASPC's Training Academy.

We celebrated the leadership of Dr. Michael Shapiro, DO, MCR, MASPC as ASPC's outgoing President and warmly welcomed Dr. David Maron, MD, FASPC as ASPC's new President. Thank you, Dr. Shapiro, for your dedication to advancing cardiovascular disease prevention, and welcome, Dr. Maron — we're excited for what's ahead!

We also recognized Dr. Erin Michos, MD, MHS, FASPC, and Dr. Nathan Wong, PhD, MPH, MASPC with a special award honoring their outstanding work with the American Journal of Preventive Cardiology (AJPC). Congratulations, Dr. Michos and Dr. Wong, on this well-deserved recognition!
