Our partner Rizome’s use of bamboo in the Philippines is just a glimpse of what is possible. Rizome designed the XPrize Carbon Capture & Storage System that draws down and stores carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. They do this through large scale planting of noninvasive clumping bamboo species that can be part of diverse ecosystems and enhance biodiversity. In addition, they plant only on deforested land that is not being used for agriculture.
