The multi-camera production class (EMME388) is always having fun while they learn. This group of students has been SO creative and fun to work with! Our final production titled "Good Early Afternoon, Frostburg" will air on FSU-TV3 just in time for the holidays!

We’re thrilled to share that Frostburg State University talent was front and center at the 2nd Annual Mountain Maryland Film Festival, hosted this past weekend by the The Allegany Arts Council! Students, alumni, and faculty from FSU’s Emerging Media (formerly MCOM) program showcased their creativity and storytelling skills, earning top honors and enthusiastic recognition.

🎬 Alumni Success
𝗗𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘁 (MCOM ’98) took First Place for his short film Bandida.
𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 (MCOM ’25) competed with his compelling short documentary 𝘓𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘤𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦.
𝗦𝗶𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻 (MCOM ’19) was a featured filmmaker with her short documentary 𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘏𝘰𝘮𝘦.
𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗴 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆!

🌟 Student Achievements
Current Emerging Media students impressed festival audiences with their creativity and skill:
𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗛𝗶𝘁𝗲, a senior, earned 3rd Place and the Audience Choice Award for her short documentary 𝘔𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴.
𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿, a recent transfer student to the program, competed with her short narrative film 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘳 𝘔𝘦.
𝗔 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀!

🎥 Faculty Spotlight
𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝘇𝗶, Associate Professor of Emerging Media, was featured on Friday evening with a screening of her feature-length documentary 𝙎𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙩 𝘼𝙥𝙥𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙖: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝘿𝙚𝙡𝙁𝙚𝙨𝙩. Following the screening, Professor Danzi joined the audience for an engaging Q&A about community, creativity, and the process of mentoring students in professional film production. She was joined on stage by 𝗦𝗶𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻, her former student who served as Associate Producer on Sweet Appalachia Documentary.
In addition to her filmmaking success, Professor Danzi also serves on the Mountain Maryland Film Festival planning committee, where she played a key role in organizing the event and introducing exciting new features—like this year’s red carpet experience.

👏 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗴 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿’𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀! 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗙𝗦𝗨 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱.
