The name of our Foundation was inspired by the name by which Ireland has been known for centuries as “The Land of Saints and Scholars”.

The relics Saint Carlo Acutis were recently made available for veneration ahead of Cork’s 100th Eucharistic Procession in June. And an incoming first-year Mater Dei Academy student was blessed with the opportunity to function as an altar server at the Cathedral of Saint Mary and Saint Anne during the visit!

While travelling in Ireland, participants in The Saints and Scholars’ Foundation’s Pilgrimage were able to visit historic Ross Castle. Built in the fifteenth century, it is a beautifully restored Irish tower house famous as one of the last strongholds to fall to Oliver Cromwell’s forces in 1652.

This past spring participants in The Saints and Scholars Foundation’s pilgrimage to Ireland were able to visit Monasterboice, the historic 6th-century monastic settlement in County Louth! Sights included the Round Tower and the particularly memorable Muiredach’s High Cross, widely venerated as the finest high cross in all of Ireland.
