When most people picture a child with ADHD, they picture a boy who cannot sit still. But ADHD in girls often looks completely different, and that difference is exactly why it gets missed for so long.

Girls with ADHD tend to daydream rather than act out. They learn early to mask their struggles socially, appearing organized or easygoing on the outside while working twice as hard internally just to keep up. Because they are not disrupting the classroom, the signs go unnoticed by teachers, and sometimes even by parents.

The result is that girls are diagnosed significantly later than boys, often not until adolescence or adulthood, by which point years of unmet support have already taken a toll on their confidence and wellbeing.

If something has felt off with your daughter but you cannot quite name it, an evaluation can give you the clarity you have been looking for.

Navigating the school system on behalf of your child can feel like a full time job, especially when you are trying to get accommodations in place without knowing exactly what you are entitled to or how to ask for it.

Dr. Davenport helps families cut through that uncertainty. From comprehensive evaluation reports that document your child's needs, to IEP and 504 guidance, school meeting support, and ongoing advocacy, you do not have to walk into those conversations alone.

Your child deserves a school environment that actually works for them. We help make sure that happens.

The first evaluation appointment can feel overwhelming, especially when you are not sure what to expect or whether you are making the right call.

Maybe you wish someone had told you it was okay not to have all the answers going in. Or that your child would be just fine through the process. Or simply that asking for help was the right move all along.

Whatever your experience was, your story matters. And it might be exactly what another parent needs to hear today.

Drop it in the comments. What do you wish you had known before your child's first evaluation?

Psychological Offices Texas was not built to be just another clinic. It was built around a simple but powerful idea: that every person who walks through the door deserves to be truly understood.

Dr. Davenport has spent over 30 years listening closely, looking carefully, and advocating fiercely for the children, teens, and adults she works with. Not just completing evaluations, but making sure every family leaves with real clarity and a plan they can actually follow.

That commitment has never changed. And it is the reason families across Texas and Georgia continue to trust her with their most important questions.

We would love to hear from you.

Most of us have something we have been putting off. A conversation we keep delaying. A decision we are waiting to feel ready for. A version of our life we can picture but haven't moved toward yet.

Dr. Davenport's latest blog post is a reminder that there is never a perfect moment. The clarity you are waiting for often comes after the first step, not before it.

Whether that step is booking an evaluation, starting therapy, or simply asking for help, the direction you choose today shapes everything that follows.

Getting a diagnosis can feel like the finish line. But for most families, it is actually the starting point.

Once you have clarity on what your child is navigating, the real work begins. Understanding their unique strengths, building coping strategies that actually fit them, getting the right academic accommodations in place, and having consistent family coaching to support everyone at home.

At Psychological Offices Texas, we don't just hand you a report and send you on your way. We walk with you through what comes next.
