🎄✨ A Special Letter from Santa! ✨🎄

As the year comes to a close, Santa himself wanted to take a moment to thank our amazing Hackberry PTA members and supporters for all you’ve done to make this year unforgettable.

Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Sarah Shoemaker

Meet 3rd Grade teacher – Reading & Language Arts, Mrs. Shoemaker! This is her fourth year at Hackberry, but she has been teaching for 14 years.

She has a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and has taught every grade level up to the 8th grade.

Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, vacationing, and reading. She and her husband have been together for 10 years and have two children, a fourth-grader and Kindergartener. She also has two dogs – a Maltese mix and a Golden Retriver.

She absolutely loves being a Lobo, and it shows!

¡Conozca a la maestra de 3er grado: Lectura y Artes del Lenguaje, Sra. Shoemaker! Este es su cuarto año en Hackberry, pero lleva 14 años enseñando.

Tiene una Licenciatura en Ciencias en Estudios Interdisciplinarios y ha enseñado en todos los niveles hasta el octavo grado.

Fuera de la escuela, le gusta pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos, las vacaciones y leer. Ella y su esposo han estado juntos durante 10 años y tienen dos hijos, uno de cuarto grado y uno de jardín de infantes. También tiene dos perros: una mezcla de maltés y un Golden Retriver.

A ella le encanta ser Lobo, ¡y se nota!

Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Shari Zaidi

Meet K-5 Reading Specialist, Mrs. Zaidi! This is her 7th year at Hackberry.
She graduated from Hardin Simmons University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science. She is certified in Special Education Pre-K through 12th and Elementay Pre-K through 6th grade.

Ms. Zaidi has 5 children and 2 grandchildren. Outside of teaching, she enjoys singing, gardening, reading, cooking, and playing the daf, a one-sided Persian drum.

¡Conozca a la especialista en lectura K-5, Sra. Zaidi! Este es su séptimo año en Hackberry.
Se graduó de la Universidad Hardin Simmons, donde obtuvo su licenciatura en Ciencias Sociales. Está certificada en Educación Especial desde preescolar hasta 12.º grado y desde preescolar elemental hasta 6.º grado.

La señora Zaidi tiene 5 hijos y 2 nietos. Además de enseñar, le gusta cantar, hacer jardinería, leer, cocinar y tocar el daf, un tambor persa de un solo lado.

Teacher Spotlight: Ms. Heather Friedman

Meet Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Friedman. This is her third year teaching, and her second year as a Kindergarten teacher.

She received her Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies EC-6 with ESL Certification from Texas Women’s University. Fun fact: she is half-Filipino and visited the Phillipines when she was three years old!

Outside of school, she enjoys reading, listening to music, binge-watch movies and TV series, and eating all kinds of food. She loves to spend time with her friends and family, including her significant other of eleven years, Zach – who is also a teacher, and her two fur-babies, her cats Callie and Thorn.

Conozca a la maestra de jardín de infantes, la Sra. Friedman. Este es su tercer año como maestra y su segundo año como maestra de jardín de infantes.

Recibió su Licenciatura en Estudios Interdisciplinarios EC-6 con Certificación ESL de la Universidad de Mujeres de Texas. Dato curioso: ella es mitad filipina y visitó Filipinas cuando tenía tres años.

Fuera de la escuela, le gusta leer, escuchar música, ver películas y series de televisión en exceso y comer todo tipo de alimentos. Le encanta pasar tiempo con sus amigos y familiares, incluido su pareja de once años, Zach, que también es profesor, y sus dos bebés peludos, sus gatos Callie y Thorn.

Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Melba Hardeman

If you don’t know her already, meet Mrs. Hardeman, our art teacher extraordinaire, who has been at Hackberry for 7 years but has 25 years of teaching experience!

Mrs. Hardeman has a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Studio Art, from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, and a Master’s degree in Reading and ESL from Dallas Baptist University. She has taught art, journalism, and dual language classes.

A few fun facts about Mrs. Hardeman: she loves animals! Her husband and she have 2 cats and 1 dog. She also loves reading, Harry Potter, the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers and making custom sugar cookies. She recently started her won cookie business named Pinky’s Cookie Planet.

Si aún no la conoce, conozca a la Sra. Hardeman, nuestra extraordinaria profesora de arte, que ha estado en Hackberry durante 7 años pero tiene 25 años de experiencia docente.

La Sra. Hardeman tiene una licenciatura en Bellas Artes, Estudio de Arte, de la Universidad Texas A&M en Corpus Christi, y una maestría en Lectura y ESL de la Universidad Bautista de Dallas. Ha impartido clases de arte, periodismo y lenguaje dual.

Algunos datos curiosos sobre la señora Hardeman: ¡le encantan los animales! Su marido y ella tienen 2 gatos y 1 perro. Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Ellen Rogers

Meet K-5 Reading Specialist, Mrs. Rogers! This is her 8th year teaching at Hackberry.

She graduated from Hardin Simmons University where she received an Interdisciplinary Generalist degree with minors in Spanish, Music and Education.

Fun fact: Little Elm ISD is special to her because she attended Little Elm schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade – which makes her a lobo for life! She has a deep passion for this district, the staff and the families that live here.

Outside of teaching, she enjoys reading and coffee, and can play the clarinet and piano. One of her dreams is to build and run her own mobile coffee shop truck.

¡Conozca a la especialista en lectura K-5, Sra. Rogers! Este es su octavo año enseñando en Hackberry.

Se graduó de la Universidad Hardin Simmons, donde recibió un título de Generalista Interdisciplinario con especialización en Español, Música y Educación.

Dato curioso: Little Elm ISD es especial para ella porque asistió a las escuelas de Little Elm desde el jardín de infantes hasta el grado 12, ¡lo que la convierte en una lobo de por vida! Tiene una profunda pasión por este distrito, el personal y las familias que viven aquí.

Además de enseñar, le gusta leer y tomar café, y sabe tocar el clarinete y el piano. Uno de sus sueños es construir y administrar su propio camión cafetería móvil.

We hope everyone enjoyed their Holiday break! We want to THANK our Watch DOGS for spending time with their lobo on campus, and showing them how important their education is to them. Thank you for supporting our campus, and our teachers with your time. Students love to see Watch DOGS on campus and we are so fortunate for our community. So far we have 8 Watch DOGS signed up for December! Meet 2nd Grade teacher, Mrs. Armstrong! This is her fourth year at Hackberry.

She has a Bachelors of Science in Elementary and Special Education from Grand Canyon University.

Fun fact: she has been married to her high school sweetheart for 33 years, has 4 grown children and 6 grandchildren, who are the light of her life. She also has one dog and two cats who she rescued, who keep her life interesting. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading, swimming, gardening and spending time with her family.
