Today, we take a moment to celebrate and honor the incredible women who shape our world. While one day is certainly not enough to recognize the strength, resilience, and creativity that we bring to the table, it’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our contributions and the journeys we undertake.

My name is Eileen Tan, and I am the proud founder of 7 Notes Modern Music School, the original Yamaha Music School in Frisco since 2013. Having moved from Canada, where I also ran a music school since 2001, I understand the challenges of pursuing your passion in a matriarchal world.
Business is the game of life— and it’s a real balancing act. But let me tell you, it’s love and passion that keep me going. My forefront is teaching music to children and they need a really good beginning.

As a single parent, I’ve faced my share of challenges, but I firmly believe that where there’s a will, there’s a way. To all the women out there, I encourage you to find something you believe in and fight for it. Your dreams are worth pursuing, and your voices deserve to be heard.

I am truly grateful for my loyal customers and the support of our community that allows small businesses like mine to thrive. Thank you for believing in the power of music education and for being part of my journey.

🌟 It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of a mentor, Steve Couldridge, who passed away a few weeks ago. Steve was the National Manager of Yamaha Music Education in Canada and a true inspiration in the world of music education.

I first met Steve when I founded my first music school in 2000, 88 Keys. 🇨🇦
It was in 2009 that I discovered the incredible Yamaha Music Education program, thanks to his guidance. He taught me how to build a Yamaha program from the ground up, and he was instrumental in training my teachers to provide the best musical education possible.

Not only was Steve business savvy, he taught me Music Wonderland, the very program I now teach to preschool children and parents on Saturday mornings, and it sparked a passion in me that has only grown over the years. His mentorship was invaluable, and even when I made the decision to move and establish 7 Notes in 2013, his influence remained with me.

Steve's dedication to music education and his unwavering support will always resonate in the hearts of those he touched. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on through the countless lives he inspired. Here’s a photo of him and I at a Yamaha convention in 2017, a reminder of the joy and passion he brought into our lives. 🎶❤️

📷 I just wanted to share a photo of my recent adventure to Salzburg. I had the opportunity to take my children to see Mozart’s birthplace, and it was such a special experience for all of us.

I found a photo of myself circa 1996, my first trip backpacking around Europe! Before the music school, before the kids, I was filled with dreams and aspirations. Back then, I thought I had nothing, yet in reality, I had everything that mattered.

Traveling through Europe this summer has reignited my soul and deepened my gratitude for the life I’ve built. It is so easy to get busy and forget what we have. I am so thankful for my children, my music school, and the beautiful journey we’re all on together. Here’s to cherishing every moment and embracing the music of life! Let's give a round of applause to our preschool Music Wonderland graduates! 🎶
This fall, they will be moving onto the Junior Music Course for 5 and 6 year olds, where they will continue to explore the world of music.

From singing to listening to playing, these kids have embraced music in the most natural way possible, learning music like how they process their first language. Parents has been involved every step of the way, and we proud of the collaboration. Congratulations to all of our future talented young musicians! 🌟

Happy Father's Day to all the amazing dads out there, especially to those who bring their kids to weekly piano classes at 7 Notes and also study with them at home.

Your dedication to bonding with your child through music will create lasting memories that they will cherish forever.

I am grateful to announce that my son Remy, 17 years old, made his Carnegie Hall Solo performing debut on Memorial Day, May 27. He won the American Protégé in the intermediate division. 🎻

Watching him take the stage and share his gifts was a beautiful moment. It's amazing to see him following his passion and achieve success. This is truly a dream come true for our family.

The next photo is my father when he was 17 years old in Indonesia. He loved music and was the vocalist in a jazz band🇮🇩

My parents immigrated and had to make sacrifices to provide a better life for his children (me), but his love for music always filled our home.

I am grateful for the inspiration he instilled in me, which led me to pursue music and open a music school and pass on the gift of music to my children and other music lovers. It's a beautiful multi-generational journey that reminds me of the importance of following your dreams and never giving up.

Congratulations Remy, keep shining bright and never stop pursuing your dreams.
