Happy Motherās Day to all the mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, and nurturing souls. š
For those who may be new here, my name is Eileen Tan, founder of 7 Notes. For the past 13 years, Iāve had the privilege of building a small and mighty school rooted in something deeper than music lessons.
At its heart, 7 Notes has always been about relationships, presence, and creating meaningful beginnings for children and their families. I truly believe children flourish when they feel seen, safe, encouraged, and gently guided. In many ways, I feel like a steward of their gifts⦠like a musical fairy godmother watching little sparks slowly come alive. āØ
But I also believe music education is a collaboration between class and home. It takes trust, patience, consistency, and presence from all of us.
The magic doesnāt only happen in the classroom. It happens in the quiet moments at home too.
You may notice the little āno cell phoneā sign out parent and child classroom in the background of this photo.
In this digital age, I try to protect the energy of these spaces and encourage moments where children feel we are truly present with them.
At times, I donāt even record classes for social media because the second a phone comes out, children stop being fully present and start feeling like they need to perform. And those small authentic moments matter.
On this rainy Motherās Day, I hope you allow yourself to slow down a little. Stay present with your family. Hold your children close. āØ
But also remember: while motherhood may be one of your roles, it is not the entirety of who you are. You are a whole, sovereign, beautiful human being long before becoming āMom.ā And that part of you still deserves nurturing too.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your childrenās musical journey. It is something I never take lightly.
Presence, not presentsāØ
