North Texas Montessori Institute is a MACTE (Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education) accredited and AMS (American Montessori Society) affiliated training program offering certification for Infant/Toddler and Early Childhood education. Our instructors have over 50 years of combined Montessori experience.

Happy birthday, Dr. Maria Montessori!

Today, we celebrate the life and work of Dr. Maria Montessori and the lasting impact of her vision for children and education. Her belief in the child’s potential continues to shape the way Montessori guides observe, prepare environments, and support children as they grow toward independence.

At NTMI, we are grateful to carry her work forward by preparing the next generation of Montessori guides and keeping the child at the heart of all we do.

Learning from the world around us. 🌱

During a nature walk, adult learners in our Infant/Toddler cohort reflected on how simple moments in nature can encourage curiosity and support children’s understanding of the world around them.

Adult learners stepped out of the classroom and into nature to begin the Cultural portion of their Early Childhood course. 🍃

During their nature walk, adult learners practiced how to guide Primary students in observing and engaging with the natural world through exploration, curiosity, and thoughtful conversation.

As part of their Infant/Toddler training, adult learners created their own materials and practiced presenting lessons to one another. Through this process, they considered the purpose behind each material, how it supports the developing child, and how it can be introduced within the Montessori environment. 🌿

Music and movement are an important part of the Infant/Toddler environment. 🎶

As part of their training, adult learners experienced how to integrate music as a natural part of the prepared environment in order to create opportunities for exploration, confidence, and connection in the classroom.

During their study of the prepared environment, our Infant/Toddler cohort participated in a tea party birthday celebration.

Through this hands-on lesson, adult learners explored why the tea party is such a meaningful tradition in the toddler classroom. As they practiced grace and courtesy by setting the table, carefully passing items, and serving one another, they gained a deeper understanding of the independence and sense of accomplishment children experience when participating in these special community celebrations.

Throughout their study of language, adult learners in our Early Childhood cohort have explored how Montessori materials foster the development of auditory skills, vocabulary, and early literacy in the Primary classroom. Through hands-on practice, they experienced how children build meaningful, concrete connections that serve as the foundation for language acquisition.

Our Early Childhood cohort spent time in the sensorial area of the Montessori classroom.

As they worked with the materials, adult learners explored how sensorial experiences help children refine their senses and bring order to their understanding of the world.

This past week, our Infant/Toddler cohort focused on the prepared environment 🪴

As they examined the role of intentional classroom design, adult learners gained practical tools and a deeper understanding of how environments can support independence, purposeful movement, and a sense of order while inviting curiosity and exploration.

Our Early Childhood cohort explored Practical Life in the Montessori classroom last week.

By working with the lessons and materials firsthand, adult learners examined how Practical Life activities help children develop independence, coordination, concentration, and a sense of responsibility. They also discovered how purposeful work serves as a foundation for future learning throughout the Montessori environment.
