Where learning sparks awe, inspires big questions, & creates meaningful connections across concepts.

All quality schools have one thing in common: parents who get involved and unite with teachers to create the best possible learning environment for their children. Education is a partnership between parents, staff, and children. We seek to create a sense of community with our schools that extends to the entire family.

The work cycle during summer at Starwood without the trending audio ๐ŸŒŸ

Toddler and Primary students experience the same uninterrupted work cycle they know during the school year, just with a slower summer rhythm. During the three-hour work period, students engage in meaningful work that encourages independence and confidence as they move through the classroom at their own pace.

Let's explore the world of science ๐Ÿ”ฌโœจ

The second themed summer camp for Lower Elementary is here! Over the next two weeks, students will step into the role of scientists as they participate in STEM challenges, investigate the properties of water, uncover the mysteries of motion and energy through experiments, and more.

Oh, the places Lower Elementary went ๐ŸŒŽโœจ

Students packed their imaginations and explored countries across the globe during the Passport to Adventures summer camp.

Swipe to see some of our favorite travels from the past two weeks!

1. Campers kept a travel journal to reflect on their experience in each country.
2. France: While creating a cheese board, campers learned to identify and slice cheeses with different textures, exploring a food tradition closely tied to French culture.
3 & 4. Egypt: After studying how the flooding of the Nile supported the growth of ancient civilizations, campers used a mortar and pestle to make Ful Medames, a traditional Egyptian fava bean dish.
5. Japan: Campers practiced a grace and courtesy lesson inspired by the tradition of serving tea to a guest.
6. India: While exploring the impact of the Spice Trade, campers smelled and sampled savory and sweet spices commonly used in traditional Indian cooking.
7. Mexico: After "visiting" the birthplace of chocolate, campers learned to weave colorful Serape-inspired patterns while exploring a traditional Mexican art form.
8. Italy: Campers experienced a taste of Italian cuisine by bruising basil leaves to make fresh pesto.
9. Australia: After learning about the worldโ€™s oldest living culture, campers used traditional Aboriginal symbols to create their own Dreamtime-inspired stories.

A morning in Lower Elementary ๐Ÿ’ซ

The morning work cycle is always in motion. The three-hour Montessori work cycle is an uninterrupted block of time that allows students to engage deeply in their work. Rather than rotating through short, teacher-directed lessons, students move through a balance of independent work, small-group lessons, group work, and practice within a consistent routine.

No two work cycles look exactly the same, reflecting the energy, curiosity, and rhythm of the classroom community each day.

Starwood is still accepting applications for our Lower Elementary program for the 2026-27 school year. ๐Ÿ”—Visit our website to learn more.
