Welcome to our 2026 Women's Personal Protection Retreat.

This year's workshop is going to cover the various aspects of justifiable self-defense using a knife. We believe that this workshop is going to make you more familiar and somewhat more comfortable with a bladed tool. This familiarity goes a long way in several directions. First, it will increase your knowledge and awareness of this very common everyday carry weapon (EDC). You will instinctively notice how many people carry blades in various capacities. You will also instinctively start to relate your knife training towards other environment tools that may be available.

This increase in familiarity will become very valuable if you are ever forced to defend against an edged weapon. Being more familiar lessens the confusion and increases your known options to deal with it.

1. Please bring your own bedding, blanket or sleeping bag, sheets and pillowcase.
2. Please bring your own bath towel and any related shower shoes or items.
3. Each camper will bring a long sleeve White T-Shirt that will certainly get ruined.

The legacy begins on February 21, 2026 with the Ozark Mountain Showdown, the first tournament of the year and a powerful opportunity for students to grow, challenge themselves, and step onto the mat with confidence.

This event is designed for all ages and ranks and is especially welcoming for first-time competitors.

If a student can perform a pattern, they can compete.

• Pre-School Age Divison: Skills, Drills & Flag Sparring

• Patterns (Forms)

Combat Fitness Challenge – Event Overview

The Combat Fitness Challenge is a high-energy competitive event designed to test strength, endurance, power, and technique in a structured and fair format. Athletes are challenged both physically and mentally, with a strong emphasis on proper form, control, and discipline.

Unlike traditional fitness competitions, this challenge rewards quality over speed. Only repetitions performed with correct technique and full range of motion will be counted. The challenge includes push-ups, squats or lunges with front kicks, punches, crunches, and various heavy bag strikes such as punches, knees, round kicks, and side kicks. The exact combination of exercises will be decided by Feb. 21st.

What the Challenge Tests: Muscular endurance, Explosive power, Cardiovascular stamina, Mental toughness, Technical precision under fatigue

How It Works: Competitors perform a series of timed fitness segments. All repetitions must meet defined form standards. Judges count approved reps out loud. Poor form or incomplete reps are not scored. Divisions are separated by age to ensure fairness.

Division Time Standards

• 12 & Under: 45 seconds per segment
• Ages 13–30: 1 minute per segment
• Ages 31+: 1 minute per segment (age-adjusted scoring if applicable)

Who Is the Combat Fitness Challenge For?

Everyone — even spectators and parents.

Ready for a fun fitness challenge? Come be part of it. The Combat Fitness Challenge isn’t just for students or competitors. It’s for anyone willing to step up, test themselves, and see how they perform under pressure.

Parents. Spectators. Athletes. Martial artists.
If you believe you’re in shape, this is your opportunity to find out.

Why Compete in the Combat Fitness Challenge

• Builds real-world conditioning for martial artists
• Encourages discipline and attention to detail
• Teaches performance under pressure
• Develops confidence through physical achievement

This event is ideal for students looking to challenge themselves, improve conditioning, and experience a unique competition that complements traditional patterns and sparring.

Why We Encourage Tournament Participation

Tournaments help students:
• Build confidence and focus
• Set and achieve goals
• Develop discipline and resilience
• Learn sportsmanship and respect
• Apply their training in a real-world setting

Competition is not about winning medals. It’s about growth, courage, and stepping outside the comfort zone.
