When parents think about kindergarten readiness, they tend to think about letters and numbers first. Can my child write their name? Do they know their shapes?
Those skills matter. But the research on school readiness points somewhere else: children who enter kindergarten with strong social-emotional skills (sharing, taking turns, managing frustration, asking for help, sitting in a group) perform better academically through third grade than children who enter with early literacy skills alone.
Our classes are built around both. Academic foundations and the emotional confidence to use them in a real classroom with 20 other five-year-olds.
Fall enrollment is open for the 2026-27 school year. Morning sessions available. Schedule a tour to see what we mean about the intentionality of our space.

Up until this point, you've been your child’s only teacher.
You've guided their first steps, cheered for their first words, and patiently answered their endless questions. Sharing that role for the very first time is a significant moment for both you and your child.
Our classrooms are designed to be a natural extension of the warmth and security of home, giving children the space to explore the world with independence and confidence while giving parents the peace of mind that comes from knowing their child is truly seen.

We love reflecting on the stories our families share with us about their time at Ivybrook Academy.
“My son has attended Ivybrook for the last 3 years. He has learned so much academic and social skills while in the half day program. He does so many activities and comes home so proud of his homework and art. Definitely he will be ready for Kindergarten!!” (Mika D.)
“We’ve seen him grow so much, both socially and academically. The environment is caring, creative, and structured in all the right ways.” (Carolina P.)
“Every day she comes home smiling and excited to tell us what she did. The environment feels safe, clean, and full of love.” (Yang J.)
“The Montessori approach has been amazing for my son’s social and academic development, encouraging independence, creativity, and critical thinking.” (Kayla D.)
If you’re researching preschools and wondering whether the experience matches the website, this is what it looks like from the inside.
Tours are available, with limited spaces for the upcoming 26-27 academic year.

What are loose parts?
Unlike traditional toys with a specific function, loose parts are open-ended materials chosen for their versatility and ability to encourage creativity and inventiveness.
With students leading their own learning, loose parts can inspire anything from artistic masterpieces to engineered structures!
By providing open-ended materials like natural elements and everyday objects, we encourage endless possibilities for imaginative play and exploration.

At Ivybrook, we focus on the process AND the final product. The true learning happens in the messy, joyful moments of discovery.

For young learners, twenty-one days can feel like a lifetime.
When we introduced the incubated chicken eggs, we knew we were asking our students to practice a very difficult skill: patience.
This project inspired a daily dedication to checking the progress of this cycle. Every morning, the children rushed in to check on the eggs. They documented the passing days, excitedly discussing how the embryos were growing stronger inside the shell.
When hatching day finally arrived, the excitement turned to pure awe! Holding a fragile chick taught them gentle hands, whispered voices, and profound empathy.
After spending a few wonderful days caring for our new friends, it was time for their next adventure. We said a joyful goodbye to our three little chicks as they're headed off to their new home at a local farm.

There's a document in our classroom that most visitors don't see on the tour. It's a learning plan written for one child. Their name is on it. Their interests are in it. Their growth areas are tracked week by week.
Every student at Ivybrook Frisco has one. Not a template with a name swapped in. An actual plan built around how that child thinks, plays, and processes their world.
When we say "individualized learning," we mean the teacher can tell you, on any given Tuesday, what your child is working on and why.
That's the part you feel when you walk in. The teachers know the children. The children know they're known.
One of our families, enrolled since 2023, said it well: "We always feel our child is in great hands, and that his teachers, past and present, truly care about him."

We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation for our wonderful educators. They are the ones who shape our classrooms into the fun and supportive spaces your children love so much.
From creating a welcoming environment that makes morning drop-offs easier to being every student's biggest cheerleader, our educators make our school a place children genuinely want to be.
We are incredibly grateful to the students and families who showered our teaching team with so much love and appreciation last week!

Preschool is the introduction to what learning feels like.
That first experience is foundational and impactful. Research in early childhood development consistently shows that the quality of a child's earliest educational environment impacts academic achievement, emotional development, and social skills well into the school years.
At Ivybrook Academy, we want that foundation to be built on joy. By blending Montessori and Reggio Emilia philosophies, our individualized curriculum meets early learners exactly where they are, so that learning is an exciting, welcoming adventure.
