🔥 **FIREFIGHTER STEVE IS OFFICIALLY A PURPLE BELT!** 🟣🥋

This one was LONG overdue.

I was actually supposed to give Steve his purple belt at Fight to Win after his dominant performance at **Battle of the Badge**… and somehow I managed to leave the belt at home. 🤦‍♂️ I felt terrible about it, and ever since then I’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to finally put that purple belt around his waist.

Tonight was the night.

Steve is the kind of guy you’re proud to have representing your academy. He serves his community as a firefighter, recently became a father, and still continues to show up, work hard, improve, and be a great teammate.

Purple belt isn’t something we give away at Solidarity MMA. **It’s earned.** And Steve earned this one a long time ago.

It was an absolute honor to finally promote him tonight.

⚖️ **Ladies and gentlemen of the jiu-jitsu community… I present Exhibit A. 😂**

This footage from **Friday Night Lights 3** was not filmed by my team.

It was filmed from **my opponent’s own corner.**

Now turn the volume up.

You can literally hear his own corner coaching him through **how to defend the submission attempt** as I’m attacking the heel hook.

That’s what makes this clip so interesting.

This wasn’t simply me sitting in a leg entanglement. I was attacking a submission, my opponent was actively defending it, and **his own corner was coaching him through that defense.**

And this was only **ONE of multiple submission attempts** I had during the match.

My opponent had no submission attempts of his own and never put me in any meaningful danger.

Yet somehow, I lost the match.

This was, without a doubt, the worst robbery of my career.

I was dominant from start to finish—constantly attacking submissions, controlling the pace, and dictating where the match took place. My opponent never attempted a submission, never put me in danger, and never created any meaningful offense whatsoever. Nothing.

I was the one attacking. I was the one creating opportunities. I was the one pushing the action from beginning to end.

I can handle losing. That’s part of competition. But when you control the entire match, create all of the offense, hunt the submissions, and your opponent never even attempts anything—and you still somehow walk away with a loss—the result simply makes no sense to me.

Congratulations to my opponent. No disrespect to him whatsoever. My issue is with the decision.

I know what happened in that match, and the footage speaks for itself.

🥋 ESCAPING THE ARMBAR FROM FULL JUJI

Once you’re caught in Full Juji, you’re already in a dangerous position. But if you know how to use your legs and create the right movement, you still have an opportunity to escape.

In this video, we break down one of our favorite escapes from the armbar in Full Juji.

First, use your legs to capture one of your opponent’s legs.

From there, pendulum your legs back and use that momentum to pop your head out, using their opposite leg as a “pillow” as your head clears.

Once your head is free, turn back into your partner, come on top, and secure the position.

Done correctly, you’ve gone from having your arm trapped in Full Juji to escaping and ending up on top in your opponent’s half guard. 👊

Don’t just learn submissions. Learn how to survive them.

🥋 THE S-MOUNT ARMBAR

If you can control the mount, you can start creating some serious submission opportunities.

In this video, we’re breaking down one of our favorite finishes from the mounted position: the S-Mount Armbar.

The key is making the transition without giving your opponent the space they need to escape. Isolate the arm, climb into S-Mount, stay heavy, and maintain control all the way through the finish.

Don’t rush the submission.

Control the position first. Take away their movement. Then attack the arm. 🔥
