Did the memorial workout “Lazar” today. For the CrossFit Games athlete who tragically passed away on the first day of the games this year in an open water swim.
Fitness has not really been my front of mind the past few weeks. I’ve been doing the bare minimum just to keep moving some. Ever since my own father passed aways just as tragic and suddenly, it’s been hard to muster the energy to do much.
Now before I say my thoughts during this workout, I want to say that I hope in no way does this diminish the death of Lazar, or what his family is still going through in the wake of his loss.
It felt strangely therapeutic doing a workout like this in memory of someone who passed recently. My dad was in no way a crossfitter, or that much into fitness at all, but was always supportive of me doing it and competing the way I have gotten too. So during this tough 9 round workout, it felt much more manageable than other workouts I have done the past few weeks. Like it was helping me release something, because of how difficult it was, and what it really means to do this in memory of someone. For that, I am thankful, and hope it has a similar effect on others that are going through events like this themselves.
I still miss my dad so much. And this week was rough emotionally for myself, siblings and our family. Small things like this win in a workout though, can go a long way on this road to a new normal.
Thanks for reading my thoughts. (My dad loved Def Leppard)

One week ago, my dad passed away. Suddenly. Unexpectedly. And heartbreakingly so.
Over this past week, my siblings, immediate and extended family, friends and co workers, have all been wrapped up in grief and anguish over this loss in our lives. My dad was many things to many people. And one of the most resounding things my siblings and I heard, was that he was loyal and faithful to a fault. Something we all hope to emulate through what he taught us in life.
Trying to figure out the “new normal” of daily life, has already felt next to impossible. I don’t know where to begin. What to start up from before, or what to start a new. Feeling “okay” doesn’t seem like an option for now, but something I will eventually have to arrive to.
However, the love and support from friends, family, coworkers and clients of mine over the past week has been what has kept me going along. My incredible wife being the absolute foremost of this support. I wouldn’t have been able to do anything without her by my side.
So while the support of my dad may be gone on this physical plane, I know his spirit is still with us and watching over all of us from Heaven above.
I miss you dad. And I love you too.

Out here at my first CrossFit competition in two years. Told myself I was gonna do one and get back out on the floor this year, no better time than middle of January!
Let’s see what I still got!
Big thanks to my coach for prepping everything for me to compete again.

Always be looking to where you want to go, but never forget just how far you have come.
There’s 9 years in between these pictures. 9 years of growth and learning how to best train and build my body. And along the way I’ve gotten to share that learning with others and help them out as well. I’m ready to help out even more as much as I can now too.
If you are looking to revamp or get your fitness started, let’s talk!

Very excited to be putting this out into the world. Over the past year, a lot of people have been pushing me to branch out and expand as much as I can into the fitness space. We’ll I’ve finally decided to pull that trigger and have been working on putting together a platform for myself to keep reaching and helping more people through heath and fitness. More to come soon, but here is to the first step.
