🔎❓ **WHAT IS IT WEDNESDAY?**

There are some pretty incredible things happening inside CTEC that you might not know about. So each Wednesday, we’re going to spotlight something around our campus and answer three very important questions:

**What is it?**
A full-sized vehicle door mounted on a training stand and a handcuff key

**Who uses it?**
Law Enforcement students

**What do they use it for?**
Practicing simulated traffic stops and developing the skills needed to safely and professionally interact with drivers during a traffic stop. Students can practice positioning, communication, observation, officer safety, and other procedures in a controlled training environment.

And that’s not all. Law Enforcement students also learn how to properly and safely apply handcuffs as part of their hands-on training. Instead of simply talking about traffic stops, officer safety, and proper procedures in a classroom, Law Enforcement students can practice realistic scenarios and develop real-world skills in a controlled training environment.

This is what CTE looks like at CTEC: students practicing real-world skills, working with specialized training equipment, and gaining hands-on experience in fields they may one day pursue as careers.

Our Culinary students have been busy prepping, testing, and gearing up to run **Saveur**, the CTEC student-run restaurant! Product development has begun, and first up is chicken pot pie, served with a delicious three-cheese biscuit.

From recipe development to restaurant operations, our students are getting hands-on experience with what it really takes to create great food and an even better guest experience. We know this one is going to be a huge crowd-pleaser!

📧 That email from your bank looks real. The invoice looks real. The link looks real. So... is it? This is exactly why cybersecurity matters.

At the CTEC, our Cybersecurity students spend the year learning how to recognize, investigate, and respond to the kinds of digital threats people encounter every day. And they don't just finish the year with new knowledge. They finish with a real-world industry certification that demonstrates what they can actually do.

From phishing and social engineering to network security and protecting sensitive information, our students are developing skills designed for the world beyond the classroom. And with increasingly convincing email scams showing up in inboxes everywhere, knowing what to click is only half the battle. Knowing what NOT to click might be even more important.

🕵️‍♀️🔎 CSI: CTEC

Our Forensic Science students put their newly acquired knowledge and skills to work as they made their way around the CTEC dusting for fingerprints.

Using professional, industry-standard tools and techniques, students searched for, lifted, and documented latent fingerprints in a real-world environment. What might look like a little powder and a fingerprint brush is actually hands-on practice with skills used by forensic professionals in the field.

These students are proving that academic excellence and career preparation go hand in hand. They're tackling rigorous academics while gaining hands-on experience in fields ranging from engineering and cybersecurity to health science, law enforcement, digital media, and more.

🌈 Apparently, even the weather knows where the gold is. We’re pretty sure that rainbow is pointing directly at the CTEC. Coincidence? We think not. 😉

With nearly 5,600 students exploring hands-on career and technical education, we’d say there’s plenty of gold to be found here. From engineering and health science to culinary arts, law enforcement, digital media, and everything in between, CTEC is where students can turn interests into real skills and real opportunities.

Your garden called. It wants to go to the CTEC!

Our CTEC Horticulture students have been busy growing all kinds of fall favorites, houseplants, herbs, succulents, hanging baskets, salsa gardens, and more. And now, they’re ready to share them with the community!

You’ll find flowers, herbs, houseplants, succulents, fall arrangements, and more, all grown or designed by CTEC students. Our Advanced Floral Design students will also have fall arrangements available for purchase.

🔎❓ **WHAT IS IT WEDNESDAY?**

There are some pretty incredible things happening inside CTEC that you might not know about. So each Wednesday, we’re going to spotlight something around our campus and answer three very important questions:

**What is it?**
Jet Stream 500 wind tunnel

**Who uses it?**
Aerospace Engineering students

**What do they use it for?**
Testing different wing shapes to study their lift and drag characteristics. Students can see how changes to a wing’s design affect its performance, giving them hands-on experience with the same aerodynamic principles used to design and improve real aircraft. Instead of simply learning about lift, drag, and aerodynamics in a textbook, Aerospace Engineering students can test, observe, compare, and apply those concepts using specialized equipment right here at CTEC.

This is what CTE looks like at CTEC: students working with specialized equipment, exploring real-world concepts, and getting hands-on experience in fields they may one day pursue as careers.

UPCOMING PROGRESS REPORT CUTOFF REMINDER!

A quick reminder for CTEC students and families: our first Interim Progress Report (IPR) ends this Friday, September 18!

This is a great time for students to check in on grades, make sure assignments are turned in, and reach out to teachers if they need a little extra support. There’s still time to finish strong! Important UIL reminder: This is the only IPR of the year at which a student can lose UIL eligibility, so now is the time to take care of any missing work and address any concerns.
