Wrapping Up Summer ☀️, Gearing Up for School! 🏫

Hello Families!

We just wrapped up our last week of summer camp, and what a fun week it was!

Ms. Meagan hosted a variety of games, but the clear student favorite was our GIANT outdoor Candyland. The kids worked together to draw the game board in chalk under our pavilion, turning the space into a real-life sweet adventure. They painted giant playing cards and had a blast drawing colors to travel past the Peppermint Forest and Gumdrop Mountains all the way to King Kandy’s Castle!

Meanwhile, Mrs. H led Dino Week with our littlest campers. Our junior paleontologists got to put on their scientist hats and excavate dino eggs to see what was inside.

Of course, camp wouldn't be complete without plenty of outdoor free play. It was wonderful watching the kids run around, play together, and burn off energy in the sunshine. To top it all off, both camp groups came together at the end of the week to cool down with popsicles.

We are going to miss seeing these kids run around campus over the next few weeks, but luckily the fall semester is right around the corner!

When the Lights Go Out at School... 🌙

Thank you to everyone who came out for last Saturday's Parent Night Out. It is always so much fun to see the building come alive after hours 🌑✨🦉

Here is a quick look at what happened, plus a few important reminders for the coming weeks:

We started our PNO event with our scheduled flashlight scavenger hunts, but it quickly turned into an epic, impromptu game of flashlight hide-and-seek.

The kids absolutely love these nights because they get to do things they normally can't do during the regular school day. There is something special about running through the building with the lights off and tracking down the perfect secret hiding spots. For a few hours, the kids completely reigned 👑 the school!

Congratulations to Ms. Carla! She was officially crowned the "Best Hider" of the night, an accolade 🏆 she is proudly bragging about this week.

If your child missed out, don't worry! Due to the overwhelming success and fun, we will definitely be hosting more PNO events throughout the upcoming school year.

Hello Everyone!

Our next PNO will be on Saturday, July 11th. A night where kids rule the building (and Carla goes home tired lol)! We'll be doing an indoor and outdoor flashlight scavenger hunt. You can sign up here:

We are off this week, but summer camps continue next week. Ms. Kristen is leading a fun math camp (3rd-7th grade). I know. Math? Fun? But she has some great games planned, and kids will still get outdoor breaks to burn off that energy. Work those math muscles and build their confidence!

Mrs. H is also leading Camp Meadow Creek, perfect for ages 4-7. Mrs. H focuses on PLAY, with plenty of time outside. This camp prioritizes movement, imagination, and messy creativity.

The Best Kind of Summer Fun!

At Meadow Creek, we really want to give our kids the kind of summer we all remember growing up. The ones filled with endless tag, messy art projects, picking flowers, and running around until our legs tire out, always ending the day with a popsicles.

Last week, our campers dove into a massive collaborative art project. They learned how to make handmade paper completely from scratch using discarded paper scraps. With Ms. Lindsay there to guide them, the kids took total creative control, designing their own wildflower seed paper, bowls, and bookmarks.

We also experimented with Tataki-zome, a Japanese technique for transferring plant pigments onto fabric. The kids gathered flowers from our recess yard and had an absolute blast hammering the vibrant petals and leaves onto their cloth. It was easily one of our favorite weeks yet!

We also hosted our second Parents' Night Out, which has become such a special event for our community. It’s a night dedicated entirely to unstructured, free play. Last Saturday, the kids played freeze tag outside, had a glow dance party indoors, crafted glow-in-the-dark friendship bracelets, and wrapped things up with a massive game of hide-and-seek throughout the school. Ms. Carla even introduced a game from her own childhood called "Sardines," which was a total hit.

They all went home happy and exhausted; exactly how summer should be.
