わたしたちは、無双直伝英信流正統会（正統第22代宗家、池田隆聖昴先生）に所属する道場で、千葉県天台道場の谷田博先生（10段範士）およびテキサス州デントン道場のジョン・レイ先生（8段準範士）にご指導を仰いでいます。

We recently had special guest John Ray Sensei from the Denton dojo come visit us. After practice, he presented us with certificates to members who took and passed their rank exams in March.

Last March, the group attended the 2026 Koushukai in Oklahoma City. We trained with Tanida-sensei and Chikamoto-sensei over the weekend. Rank testing was done on Sunday.

On May 15 all members of the dojo came together to hold a regional shōdan shiken for both Clear Lake and the San Antonio dojo. We were honored to have John Ray Sensei come down again to lead the judging panel, and for Jon Andresen Sensei's support. As a public safety announcement for students and visitors:

Avoid the three C’s
Clear Lake Iaido started up indoor classes this month at our usual yoga studio location. Class start times have remained the same, except for Wednesday which now starts at 8:45 PM to avoid the prior yoga class letting out.
Everyone, including visitors, is required to wear a mask and maintain 6’ or greater (~2 katana lengths) distance.
A large part of our training consists of solo waza, so we are able to practice our system much as we did before the pandemic.

Saturday, May 11, was our first demonstration at the Friendswood Public Library, held as part of their observance of Asian/Pacific Islander American Heritage Month (May). It was held inside their meeting room just inside the front door. Earlier in the month I was invited to fill their display case.
