Eta Sigma Alpha National Home School Honor Society

Eta Sigma Alpha National Home School Honor Society This page is for all of the chapters across the United States. Updates and announcements will be posted on this page! Founded in 1999 by Joanne E.

Eta Sigma Alpha National Home School Honor Society recognizes and encourages scholarship among home school students. Eta Sigma Alpha is the first honor society established exclusively for homeschooled students. Juren, M.Ed., Executive Director of the Home Education Partnership of Texas, it has grown into a national organization. As a former public school administrator, Juren contacted the National

Honor Society with the intent of forming a homeschool chapter for her sons and others in a local support group in 1997. When told that NHS did not accept homeschool students, Juren decided to start a new honor society for homeschoolers. Over the next two years, the idea for Eta Sigma Alpha was refined and the "Alpha" chapter was started in 1999 through the Home Education Partnership of Texas. Barbara Gorman served as the first lead sponsor along with Joanne Juren and Terry Arnold as co-sponsors.

Please remember....only those students who qualify by meeting the ESA test score requirement may be members of a chapter. Yes, it is disappointing when a student does not meet the score, but he DOES NOT QUALIFY...PERIOD.

Mrs. Sanders our ESA Administrator will be leaving us in two weeks. We will miss her and her expertise on testing and ESA guidelines.

Please get applications, etc. in during the next 2 weeks so that we can get them processed. Her email is [email protected].

We will hopefully hire someone new in June.

HEP TX will be closed June 29-July 16 for our summer break. No one will be here to any questions.

ESA will be closed June 1 - July 16 so that we can hire a new administrator and train her. Please be patient as we go through this transitional period.

We will hopefully reopen in late July to begin processing new applications and charters.
