Meet Lance Sitton — a talented junior whose passion for music extends far beyond performance. 🎶

Lance primarily plays the tuba, though he also enjoys playing bass guitar for fun — and if you ask him, he might even say he “plays” the computer through composition. His original piece The Gladiator’s Arena remains especially meaningful as the only composition of his to be performed by a Friendswood ensemble. That is, until Monday night when Sol Invictus was performed by our very own Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Maycie Meyer.

Early inspiration came from his junior high band directors, Mr. Steinke and Mr. Abbott, while today his creativity is shaped by a blend of legendary composers, modern musicians, and peers from across the country who continue to encourage and challenge his work.

Some of Lance’s favorite memories include marching band trips to state and nationals, region and All-State band performances, and attending the TBA Convention this summer, where the Air Force Band performed a piece based on a melody he wrote.

We are proud to celebrate Lance’s incredible musicianship, creativity, and dedication to his craft. 💙💙💙
