SSSD could not be more proud of our students Avery Leput, Naomii Leput, Evelyn Rhoads, and Wyatt Weigle for having the honor of participating in a children’s choir made up of students from schools throughout Somerset County.

The theme of the 25th anniversary observance was “The Next Generation,” and it was especially meaningful to have these young students included in the ceremony. They truly represented the future and the importance of making sure we never forget what happened on September 11, 2001.

Seeing our students come together with children from across Somerset County, sharing their voices and their love of music, was such a special moment. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented Shanksville.

A very special thank you to our amazing music teachers, Mrs. Cheryl Bush and Mrs. Dawn Fassnacht for nurturing our students’ love of music and encouraging them to share their talents. Their passion, dedication, and love for their students create opportunities and memories that will stay with them for years to come.

Avery, Naomii, Evelyn, and Wyatt, we are so proud of you! Thank you for sharing your beautiful voices and helping make this meaningful ceremony even more special.

Today, on the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, Viking Nation pauses to honor and reflect.
We will always remember and be forever thankful for the brave and courageous actions of the passengers and crew of Flight 93. Their extraordinary heroism will never be forgotten.

We were honored to welcome crew members from the USS Somerset to Shanksville-Stonycreek School District today. During their visit, they spent time with our upper elementary, middle and high school students at lunch, sharing stories and connecting with the students.

We are grateful for their service to our country and for taking the time to visit our school. 🇺🇸

Mrs. Stefanick's class learned about unity in the P.R.O.U.D. (PBIS) lessons last week. To reinforce this lesson, the students had to build a tower without speaking and then they built another one where they worked together and discussed the project. Later, they compared which way worked better to build the tower. What a wonderful way to show the students how important it is to work together and communicate with each other.
