Lately, I've been thinking about what it would take to get back into it. This is a big question with many variables, but this piece of the answer is easy. I've never used the word patchwork to describe my philosophy, but it totally fits.

Moving month has come, and halfway gone already. I keep telling myself I need to post about this. I keep putting it off another day, and so here we are.

After months of looking, I have not found a suitable long term location for Daisy Chain School. I am closing the school.

A few weeks ago, I let my families know that April 22 will be the last day of class. This gives me the last week of April to get everything packed up, moved, and the place cleaned. I will be storing most of the school's supplies and furniture. A new location, in the future, is still a possibility.

Starting in May, I will be working with some families at various locations on a more fluid schedule. For now, Daisy Chain School will still be a thing, but not a place. No matter where we are, education happens.

We are still exploring options to relocate our multi-age learning lab. If you know of a small house with a big yard, we'd love to hear about it! We need a new location by the end of April.

I'm super proud of this drop-in kid. Two summers ago, I gave him a writing journal. He drew pictures and wrote an occasional word. About a year ago, he saw me writing in my own journal, and marveled at the pages full of words. He said, "I want to write ALL the words." A few months ago, he started writing simple sentences. Then he started filling pages. This week, he started copying text from information books. Today, he asked for a new journal because his old one is full!

Homeschoolers, preschoolers, and public-schoolers work alone and together on blocks, origami, piano, art, writing, and observing. There are many ways to learn at Daisy Chain School.

We still have some drop-in spaces available for public schoolers on mid-winter break next week. We are open Tues-Fri, 9:00-5:00, with flexible scheduling. Call, message, or email for details.
