Sometimes people think it's simple to create calligraphy, but it often relies on measured guidelines and careful planning. However, once you’ve practiced a specific hand for a while, it becomes much easier to write it without complex guidelines.

My natural handwriting is vertical, so the 'Foundational' hand comes more easily to me than italic. As a result, I normally use guidelines when I'm working on an italic project.

Be patient. Much easier said than done, however, for the new student to calligraphy it's an essential state to master and one that will serve you well as you develop and refine your skills!
