Fresno Pacific University Music Department

Last week the WCAC had the opportunity to host a Jazz Fresno event - featuring our own guitar professor, Chris Janzen, Artist. He was joined by three other jazz composers from the Fresno area - they performed all original pieces for the hour-long session.

Hey FPU Music students and friends! Have a great summer - we can't wait to be back making music together in just a few months. If you are interested in participating in any of our ensembles, either as a student or community member, please reach out! We look forward to the beautiful things God will do going forward!

Congrats to all the FPU graduates who participated in Commencement this past weekend! We are thankful for you and especially proud of those that participated in music during their time here. May God bless you in your future endeavors!

Our final music program event of the school year was the "Spring is Here" Instrumental Music concert last evening. The San Joaquin Valley Community Band was joined by special guest, Unhealthy Sensitive Saxophone Quartet. It was a great program and exciting to see some of our FPU students in the concert band!

Our final senior recital of the year was performed by Destiny Rosales on Wednesday evening. She worked together with collaborative pianist, Matt Horton, and also fellow student, Juan Meza to complete the first half of her program. The evening ended with a time of worship which she planned and recruited musicians to help her tell her story.

The second senior recital of the weekend was for Alexis Sims on Sunday evening. She also did a great job on all her songs! She finished with an original song that she accompanied herself on ukelele.

We had a full weekend in the WCAC Black Box with two senior recitals. The first was on Friday evening for Jordana Chano - she did a great job with all her selections and finished with a beautiful time of worship!

Our last Music Program event of the semester will be our Instrumental Concert featuring the San Joaquin Valley Community Band and special guest, Unhealthy Sensitive Saxophone Quartet. Come out and support FPU Music!!

Last Friday night, Jillian Balakian performed her Senior Recital to great success! Check out some pictures of her and some of her colleagues who supported her. This is just the first of a series of music events as we finish the semester strong!
