We would like to give a shout out to Scott Brower, our colleague in the Nursing Department at Fresno State, and Randy Freed, our volunteer "patient" for an amazing day of learning with and from you as our second year DPT students learn to work with patients "post-cardiac surgery." We are forever grateful for the collaboration.

A big thank you to our incredible nursing students who volunteered to teach Pre-K and Kindergarten students at the Charlie Keyan Armenian Community School about the importance of handwashing and cough etiquette. Some of the students also visited 5th and 6th graders to share insights about the nursing profession and demonstrate basic nursing skills.

Congratulations to faculty member, Dr. Tara Reed, who graduated from Fresno State with her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree! Students from the Nursing Students' Association recently surprised her with a special celebration.
"My DNP school journey has been fascinating, enlightening and fulfilling. The future is bright with many opportunities. I am especially excited to pursue a tenure-track nursing faculty position and continue to educate our future nursing workforce. I am thankful I took the journey," Dr. Reed said.

Graduate highlight!
Hayden Mammen Delaere, BSN
Class of Spring 2024
โI chose a nursing career because I absolutely love the opportunity to educate individuals and family members. I also love the opportunity to be able to make an impact in peoples lives that can last a lifetime.
My biggest support throughout the nursing program has been my husband Cameron and my two best friends who I met in nursing school Arlene and Wendy.โ
Congratulations Hayden ๐

Graduate Highlight!
Bea Therese Hartung, BSN
Class of Spring 2024
โI had always wanted to do something in healthcare, as it blended my passions for altruism and my love for science. As I completed my prerequisites and got exposure to the clinical environment as a medical scribe at the Saint Agnes emergency department, I became certain that nursing was the best fit for me. Financial stability and career flexibility were initial motivators, but what made me certain that nursing was the right choice for me was the fact that it focuses so heavily on patient-centered care. I am really passionate about a person-centered approach to medicine, and there's no career like nursing that can help mold and prepare you for that.
Just like raising children, it takes a village to get a nursing student through nursing school! My fellow classmates were big supporters, naturally. But the people that kept me going mainly included my closest friends, my family, and my husband, Payton. My achievement is as much theirs as it is mine.โ
Congratulations Bea ๐

Thank you to Patrick Dantzler, Chief Nursing Officer at CRMC, Matthew Jacinto, Nurse Practitioner at Neurosurgical Associates Medical Group, and Dr. Janine Spencer, Professor at Fresno Stateโs School of Nursing for speaking to Fresno City College and Fresno State nursing students about career opportunities and advanced education. What a great opportunity for students to explore all that the nursing profession has to offer.
