November 8 is recognized as the National First-Generation College Celebration Day, honoring students who are the first in their families to attend college.

We celebrated our first-generation community on October 30, honoring the trailblazing students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, and allies who strive for and achieve excellence every day.

We are so grateful to our students, with whom and for whom we do this work, our partners and colleagues across campus for engaging with us and contributing their energy and talents to the celebration, and our alumni who continue to inspire us with their insights and incredible stories.

Students interested in attending should visit the CASA office in Science 1, Room 101, with a $20 refundable deposit in cash. Bus departure is scheduled for 7 a.m., on Saturday, October 18, from Fresno State, with return following the event.

Driving yourself? No need to provide a deposit. Visit the office to complete registration and sign necessary paperwork.

Student Employee Appreciation Week was last week, but we are celebrating this week! To our amazing, talented, and dedicated student staff we appreciate you!

Today and everyday we celebrate the success and contributions of our First-Generation college students, faculty, and staff! We are so proud of each and everyone of you! 🎉

Highlighting Dr. Varaxy Yi as a Keynote speaker at The First-Generation College Celebration (FGCC). This is celebrated annually on November 8 to commemorate the signing of the Higher Education Act (“HEA”) of 1965, which created federal financial aid programs to fund students’ education and invested in colleges and universities!
