The Wanke Family has been part of the One Student community since 2015.

“Our family has partnered with WAVS for more than a decade and continues to do so as we look to love our neighbors near and far.
We are thankful to partner with an organization that is thoughtfully led with local staff serving their communities who proclaim the good news of Jesus while demonstrating God’s love daily by empowering their neighbors.

We hope you’ll join us in supporting WAVS as they enter another exciting season of growth and opportunity.”

A new chapter is beginning.

This past year, enrollment at our Bissau campus reached its highest point yet, with more than 540 students trained — more than double the year before.

And the need continues to grow.

More young people than ever are stepping forward with the desire to learn job skills and build a brighter future.

Because of this growth, we believe even more is possible.

Over the next three years, our goal is to train 1,000 students per year.

Today, you can help make that vision a reality by sponsoring a student.

More than 2,500 West African youth have been equipped with life-changing job skills through WAVS vocational schools.

And we are just getting started.

With growing demand for training programs in welding, carpentry, machining, languages, and technology, more students are lining up for the opportunity to go back to school.

Today, you can help a student get that opportunity.

Students at WAVS invest in their own education by paying a small part of their tuition. To keep it affordable, One Student members cover the rest ($30 per month).

This past year has been a year of growth at the Bissau campus.

We had our highest enrollment in history, with over 540 students trained this last school year — more than double the year before.

More students than ever are stepping into classrooms to learn skills in welding, carpentry, English, French, and computer literacy.

Because of this growth, we believe even more is possible.

Over the next three years, our goal is to train 1,000 students per year—equipping them with life-changing job skills so they can work for a brighter future.

Januarda Rodrigues Sanches is 17 years old and studying English at the WAVS vocational school in Bissau.

She chose to study English because she dreams of becoming a journalist. For Januarda, learning languages is essential to understanding and serving the people of her country.

At first, her mother was hesitant about her pursuing journalism, concerned about the risks of the profession in Guinea-Bissau. But Januarda is determined to move forward.

“I want to understand the entire community of my country,” she said. “And through my work, I want to fight for what is good and help others.”

Today, she is taking real steps toward that future through her education at WAVS.

And she represents something bigger.

This past year, enrollment at our Bissau campus reached its highest point yet, with more students stepping into classrooms than ever before to learn life-changing job skills.

Today, you can help students like Januarda go back to school.
