Congratulations to Brenda Angelica Gutiérrez Mora for completing their degrees for both Anthropology and City & Regional Planning majors. They also received two certificates in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Environmental Planning 🎓🎉

During their time at Fresno State, Brenda presented at the Southwestern Anthropological Association, the American Anthropological Association, and the Society for Applied Anthropology. They were a research assistant for Dr. Crowell in the Sociology department at The Mark Fossett Lab to understand and map the origins of urban segregation across the U.S. using census 1940's data. Brenda supported a second project as a research assistant for Dr. D**g in the Geography & City and Regional Planning department in assessing the efficacy of transit integrated housing policies across California. They held internships at the California Governor's Office for Business & Economic Development as an Immigrant Integration Intern, was part of the inaugural cohort for the Arte Americas Cultural Arts Fellowship, and an intern at the Fresno Local Agency Formation Commission. Brenda is grateful for the support of the Ronald E. McNair Scholars program and IRA funds available through the anthropology department that helped support their conference participation.

After graduation, they are excited to apply for government roles and opportunities that allow them to work alongside rural communities at the intersection of equity, arts and culture, and public infrastructure.
