People like Clayton are so valuable to aquaculture facilities. Great to see his talents recognized!
Congratulations to our very own Clayton Patmagrian who was named the UF IFAS School of Forest, Fisheries, and Geomatics Sciences SFFGS Staff Person of the Month for October 2023! Clayton is an invaluable member of our team, and we could not be more grateful for him! As stated in his nomination for the award, "He has proven capable of solving many equipment failures and project challenges, be it a costly tractor repair to construction and design of fish holding and water treatment systems. In addition to pond and grounds care, he is invaluable in his contributions to our ongoing research. He has gone out of his way to take on problems at the lab even if they occur after hours or on weekends, a recent example being diagnosing and repairing a broken heat pump that malfunctioned over a weekend to prevent the loss of a vital fish culture system." Thank you, Clayton, for everything you do!

Congratulations to everyone involved who are making this partnership possible.
Exciting news at UF/IFAS Indian River Research and Education Center! Spawning pairs of swallowtail angelfish (Genicanthus melanospilos) are thriving. With support from Quality Marine, the IRREC research team is documenting the larval development of this sparsely researched marine ornamental fish species. The juvenile swallowtail below is a member of IRRECs first successful cohort of cultured juveniles.

We have recognized the work of Keri O’Neil and her team at The Florida Aquarium many times over the years. This excellent video with Lou Schiavo from World Wide Corals caught our attention because it highlights just how far the sexual reproduction of endangered stony corals in aquariums has progressed. Keri gives full credit to the aquarium hobby for technological innovation that makes it all possible.
