The Central Valley’s DUI fatality rate is more than double the California average, a statistic that highlights the urgent need for awareness, research, and action.

We are proud to have our research featured in a news segment that aired last month. The study was led by Fresno State faculty members Dr. Aly Tawfik and Amber Shaver, alongside student fellow Alexis Perez, to better understand the factors contributing to these tragic crashes and identify effective strategies for prevention. Every data point represents a life, a family, and a community impacted.

This research was funded by the Central California Public Health Consortium and reflects the power of collaboration in addressing critical public health and transportation safety challenges.

Through research, partnership, and evidence-based solutions, we hope to help make our roads safer for everyone.
