At the end of October, I co-hosted the Yosemite Renewal retreat in Oakhurst, CA with the amazing Casey Carroll ❤️😎 Our first collaboration—but definitely not our last! 💥🎉

The theme of “renewal” was inspired by fall’s season of harvest and reflection – a time to gather and enjoy the fruits of our labor, but also to pause for lessons learned along the way. Like regenerative farming, returning what we don’t need to the earth, to nourish future growth 🍂🌱– so it goes in our life and recovery journeys as well 🧘‍♀️💫

The Sierra Nevada foothills gave us the perfect backdrop:

🌈 Awe-inspiring views, surrounded by nature
🏞️ Bridalveil Falls and Yosemite Valley adventures
🧺 Riverside picnics under El Capitan and Yosemite Falls
🌅 Sunset atop Sentinel Dome, magical starry skies
❤️ Fireside stories, meaningful connections, laughter for days

Surprise electrical storm 🌧️⛈️🌩️⚡️⚡️⚡️and BOOP power’s out!

I had some computer work to finish.. still do of course.. but who’s in charge around here anyway? How bout the sky. Sure seems like sky right now. Not a bad reminder that we’re all just silly little humans.. building human things all over this comparatively giant watery rock.. floating in a magical bubble of oxygen air, hurtling through space, staring at screens and tap tap tapping away at computers.

I think Moose and I are gonna go sit on the patio and eat a not-grilled cheese sandwich and watch the sky for awhile ☺️💖

Y’all, I am so excited to share this retreat!

When I moved up here to the mountains almost two years ago, I was in search of more SPACE - around me, and within me. I felt drawn to Yosemite, where my body feels more settled, more calm.

I didn’t realize then, it would be a move to meet myself all over again. And not the easy, how-do-you-do, kind of meeting. Nay, NAY. It would be more like setting sail on a ship made of unfinished workbooks and attachment wounds, then only realizing I’d entered the Sea of Self Discovery once the option to swim back was gone and I’d need to rebuild the craft upon which I traveled myself.

Like that. Except not on the ocean at all. Firmly on the ground, in these mountains with their strong granite belly that eats worries for breakfast, that takes all the ick and overwhelm I don’t need anymore, and turns it into stars.

My body was right, leading me here. I breathe more deeply. I delight easily, and often. I experience awe, every day. I feel in tune with the world around me. And I want to share this place with YOU.
