đ¨ FACULTY HEALTHCARE IS ABOUT TO SKYROCKET. đ¨
Many faculty members have asked what the projected health insurance increases could mean for them. The answer is straightforward: health insurance costs are expected to rise much faster than the District's contribution.
For the 2026â27 plan year, health insurance premiums are projected to surge by 35%. Meanwhile, the District's proposed contribution increase doesn't even come close to keeping pace, leaving employees to absorb the massive difference.
Look at how hard this hits your wallet:
ASCIP 90/70 PPO Plan: Monthly costs could jump from approx. $480.56 to $948.30/monthâan increase of $467.74/month or $5,612.84 more per year. That is a 97% increase in employee costs.
ASCIP HDHP Plan A: Monthly costs could increase from approx. $7.37 to $309.49/monthâan increase of $302.12/month or $3,625.40 more per year. Because we started so low, this represents a jaw-dropping 4,099% increase.
The Real Threat: This massive cost-shift will completely consume any potential salary increases we fight for.
The District cannot plead poverty. They are currently hoarding a staggering $126 MILLION in cash reservesâover 35% of the total budget. They have the resources to fully cover our healthcare. They are simply choosing their bank account over our livelihoods.
We have officially entered Impasse and state-guided mediation. The mediator needs to see that we are organized, vocal, and refusing to accept less than competitive compensation.

SCCCD has a $126,000,000 secret.đ°
While State Center Community College District sits on massive reserves, our faculty are being forced to make impossible choices. Our wages are $16,000 behind our neighbors, and for our students, that gap isn't just about moneyâitâs about time.
