Maria T. Bisco LOPATCONG TOWNSHIP, NJ Maria T. Bisco, 69, formerly of Lopatcong Township, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, while in hospice at Bridgeway Sr. Rehabilitation in Bridgewater, NJ. Born Oct. 11, 1947, in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Harold Woolf and Vera Shaw. Maria was a graduate of Delaware Valley Regional High School. She retired from the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission in 2011 and pursued her love of gardening as a member of the Phillipsburg Area Garden Club, where she served as president from July 2011 to July 2013. Her work focused on the beautification of the downtown Phillipsburg area and reestablishing the Community Garden. She also helped the town establish a Blue Star Memorial Highway in 2014. Maria was given a lifetime recognition award by the Phillipsburg Town Council and Mayor Harry Wyant for her devotion to the Phillipsburg Community. In 2015 she received the Michelle Broubalow Chamber Award of Excellence from the Phillipsburg Area Chamber of Commerce in recognition of her overall dedication to serving the community. Maria was a member of Ss. Philip and James Catholic Church and the Warren County Democratic Committee, previously elected as Democratic Committeewoman for Ward 1, where she served with her husband Richard. Maria was loved by her family and friends and everyone who had the opportunity to know her and enjoy her smile and infectious laugh! You will be missed! Maria is survived by her daughter, Susan (Bisco) Anderson and husband David and loving granddaughter, Sarah, all of Branchburg, NJ; six sisters, Frances Ludwig (John) of Phillipsburg, Virginia Woolf, of Mesa, AZ, Jackie Hammond (Bob) of Tobyhanna, PA, Linda Calvo (Vincent) of Phillipsburg, Noreen Popinko (Harry) of Washington, NJ and Patricia Stuyck (George) of Kresgeville, PA; 27 nieces and nephews. Her husband, Richard, passed away in 2008 and a brother, Robert Shaw, of Apache Junction, AZ, passed away earlier. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. in Doyle-Devlin Funeral Home, Inc., 695 Corliss Ave, Phillipsburg, NJ. Call Sunday from 10 a.m. to time of services in the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.devlinfh.com.
