Five medals. One weekend. Two incredible Yellow Jackets. 🥇🥈
Over Labor Day weekend, Diya S. (7) and Lasya S. (11) stood out at the World Wushu Open Championships.
Diya won silver medals in both of her events, earning a spot on Team USA's Traditional Kungfu team and her black belt, all in a single weekend!
Lasya, already a Team USA member and black belt holder, swept gold in all three of her events and placed 2nd overall in the 16-year-old girls All-Round Championship.
Behind every medal are countless hours of training, discipline, and determination. Congratulations, Diya and Lasya. We can't wait to see what's next! 👏

It was Middle School Field Trip Day, with each grade heading off on its own adventure! 🐾🎨🍝

Grade 6 spent the day at Happy Hollow Zoo, getting up close with the animals, riding the rides, and learning how traits pass from one generation to the next. Grade 7 explored the San José Museum of Art, then turned from viewers into artists during a hands-on lesson with museum educators. Grade 8 traveled to the Italian countryside (by way of Cucina Bambini) and cooked an authentic Italian meal together, start to finish.

One day, three adventures, and a lot of happy Yellow Jackets! ❤️🖤

What happens when students discover what they're capable of?

At BASIS Independent Schools, advanced academics, expert teachers, and meaningful opportunities to explore help students turn curiosity into confidence and ideas into action.

From a student who dug deeper into a personal connection to World War II to another who transformed a passion for archery into a 365-page book, these are just a few of the stories behind the numbers.

And this year, those numbers include standout 2027 Niche Rankings and nearly 30% of graduating seniors named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists.
