🌱💚 We are excited to share that members of our staff recently attended the Heartland Farm to School Institute as part of our ongoing commitment to expanding Farm to School opportunities for our students!

Thanks to a grant we received to support our school garden, we have been working hard to connect our classrooms, cafeteria, and community through hands-on learning experiences centered around agriculture, nutrition, and healthy eating.

The Heartland Farm to School Institute, a collaborative effort between the Departments of Education in Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska, brings together schools from across the region. During the kickoff conference, our team participated in educational sessions, collaborated with other schools, and developed an action plan to continue growing our Farm to School program here at Bergan.

Over the next year, we will work alongside coaches and fellow participants to implement new ideas that strengthen student learning, increase access to local foods, and expand opportunities in our school garden.

We are grateful for this opportunity and look forward to sharing our journey as we continue helping students learn where their food comes from, develop healthy habits, and grow as stewards of God’s creation. 🌿🥕🍅
