Today we started the summer of hard goodbyes! Ashtyn is off to Kindergarten in the fall and, like her siblings before hand, she’s going to blow her teachers away! But today wasn’t just a kindergarten farewell. It was a family farewell. We’ve had a Brunken baby pretty much since the doors opened almost 8 years ago. Families that stay and know the value of early childhood relationships and consistency of care are the same families that bring their concerns and work through the challenges alongside our team. And I’m so grateful to this family. They have supported pearl, improved pearl and sprinkled Brunken joy all over this place!
And Dadgum, we are going to miss them!!

This right here! This trio has had the same teachers building into them for all of their early childhood years. Consistency of care in the early years is huge. And they are more than ready for the Big K this fall.
Also, I’m not really OK about it. Currently pursuing plans to figure out how to start a k-6 school!

Our celebration continued today because I wanted you to see the faces behind Step 5.
More than double the required amount of training hours.
All ELGS for lead staff, instead of the required 1 per year. (42 hours for each lead staff!)
A combined 12 hours of observations.
3 in-depth portfolios of professional development hours, lesson planning and resources.
An annoying boss who pushed and pushed and pushed. 🥰
Families that supported us through the good, bad and ugly!
And that is really a tiny drop of water in the great big ocean of childcare.
Nebraska Step Up to Quality created a binder with step -to-step, check the box guidelines. They also offer a training on the different quality standards. I am so grateful for the support we received.
I am competitive with myself, so we were going for step 5. But I also knew that no matter where we landed, we were better for going through the process.
And being better for our Pearls is what it’s all about!
I’ve been questioning, what’s next? And then it dawned on me, Step 5 isn’t a destination. It’s a jumping off place.
It’s just the beginning.
