Dear CSD Retirees,

I hope this message finds you well. I just wanted to send a quick reminder about our upcoming Silver Eagle Retiree Luncheon and Social Gathering this February. We are so excited to welcome you back and have already received some RVSPs. However, we would love to see even more familiar faces to join us!

If you haven’t done so yet, please RVSP and send in your payment by Thursday, January 30, 2025. The event will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at CSD High School Activity Center (HSAC). We’ll start with a gathering at 10:30AM, followed by lunch at 11:00 AM.

This is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, reminisce, and meet our new Superintendent, Amy Novotny, while celebrating our shared history at CSD.

We also kindly ask for your help in spreading the word! Since we don’t have updated email addresses for all our retirees, please share this information with your fellow CSD retirees who may not have received this message.

1- Support Deaf Ed in California! Help pass Senate Bill 1315. What is is and how can we make it happen?
2- What is SB1316? SB1316 Would guarantee that all of California’s State Special
Schools would receive pay comparable to staff across their region with equivalent positions in public school settings.
3- What is SB1316? These changes are crucial to providing essential services to
communities across Calfiornia and keep the hub of Deaf culture thriving.
4- What is SB1316? SB1316 is headed to Senate Appropriations Committee, where legislators will evaluate the cost of the bill.
5- What can you do? Contact members of the committee to explain to them
the immeasurable value the California Schools for the Deaf and Blind have and the urgent need to address these pay gaps.
6- What can you do? Make sure every message has
a clear ask for the legislature to vote AYE, or yes, on SB1316 in the Appropriations Committee.

Who’s ready for the Super Bowl game between the 49ers and Chiefs? The CSD Alumni/Deaf Community is hosting a Super Bowl party at Broncos Billy Pizza this Sunday, February 11th. We are accepting admission donations, and the proceeds will go to the CSD Athletic Fund. Please share this flyer with your friends and family.
