Happy Public Schools Week!
Public schools are not just buildings. They’re the heartbeat of our community.
Strong public schools don’t just happen. They’re built by educators who show up, families who speak up, communities that invest, and unions that push for what students deserve.
Our work as FUDTA is about protecting public school funding, fighting for safe campuses, smaller class sizes, real resources, and sustainable support.
It’s about making sure the people who care for your kids are supported too.
When we advocate for educators, we’re advocating for students. When we defend public education, we’re defending the opportunity for all students to be successful!

We’re keeping the counselor appreciation going from last week because one week isn’t enough.
Our school counselors support students academically, socially, and emotionally.
Students deserve consistent access to counselors who have the time and capacity to truly support them. Their work is essential to student well-being and success, and we’re grateful for everything they do every day.

Day 4 of our School Counselor Spotlights
As we continue highlighting the incredible work of our counselors, we’re also lifting up an important truth: students thrive when they have access to consistent, dedicated counselor support. That means a full-time counselor at every elementary school and manageable counselor-to-student ratios at our middle and high schools. Counselors are essential to student safety, wellness, and success. Fremont schools are strongest when counselors have the time and capacity to do this work well!

Today we’re shining a light on more of the counselors whose care and dedication make a daily difference on our campuses. Their work goes far beyond scheduling and classroom lessons; they create safe spaces, build lasting relationships, and help students navigate challenges both in and out of the classroom. We’re proud to celebrate the counselors who support the whole child and help our school communities thrive.

Today, we’re continuing to celebrate the counselors who show up every day for our students, supporting their mental health, helping them navigate challenges, and creating spaces where kids feel seen, safe, and supported. Their impact is strongest when they are fully present on a campus: when elementary students have a full-time counselor, and when secondary counselors have manageable caseloads that allow for real, meaningful connections.
Students deserve access to consistent and trusted support.

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible school counselors across FUSD who show up every day to support students’ academic, social, and emotional well-being, and who are just as often a steady support for staff and families, too.
Each day this week, we’ll be spotlighting a few of our amazing counselors and the impact they make on their school communities. Their work reminds us that when counselors are present on campus, students thrive.
Stay tuned throughout the week to meet more of the dedicated counselors who help make our schools places of care, connection, and belonging.

Happy School Counseling Week!
Students benefit most when counselors are embedded on their campus for building relationships, creating safe spaces, responding quickly in moments of need, and truly knowing their school community.
School counselors support students’ mental and social-emotional needs, teach lessons, support academic growth, and collaborate with families, educators, and campus teams to ensure student success.
When counselors are present on site, students have consistent access to care, trust, and support every day, when it matters most.
FUDTA celebrates our school counselors and the essential role they play in helping students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.

FUDTA’s Community Chat brought families, educators, students, and the community together for a cozy, meaningful afternoon!
Parents shared their visions for FUSD, like smaller class sizes, safe and healthy learning environments, and fully staffed classrooms, while members from FUDTA highlighted the goals we’re working toward across FUSD.
Meanwhile, kids enjoyed hot cocoa, crafts, and fun in a cozy classroom space.
Together, we’re building schools where every student and family feels supported! We hope you will consider joining us for the next one!
