⨠Closing the Chapter on Neat-Dough āØ
Today marks an official ending for Neat-Dough as I shut down its website. Truthfully, the decision to close the chapter was made some time ago, but the act of deactivating the site made it feel real. Itās funny how something as simple as a website can make a business feel tangibleāto the world, to customers, and even to an entrepreneur. Itās a topic I recently discussed with my father-in-law, who is embarking on his own entrepreneurial journey.
The decision to close Neat-Dough wasnāt easy. I wrestled with itāover and over. So much time, effort, and heart went into building this business. It brought joy, challenges, and inspiration not just to me, but to others too. At its height, Neat-Dough felt like the perfect creative outlet. But as life evolved and priorities shifted, it became clear that it was time to step away.
Even as I pressed ādeactivateā on the online store, I had moments of doubt. But then, I read a post from another entrepreneur reflecting on the sacrifices theyād madeāmissing important moments, even a funeral, for their business. That struck a chord with me. A sense of calm and clarity washed over me.
This is why I closed Neat-Dough. The sacrifices no longer aligned with the life I want to live. Could Neat-Dough have continued to grow? Yes. Do I think about the impact it might have had? Absolutely. But I know this was the right choice for me.
For the first time in years, I spent my November and December fully present with my familyāmaking memories instead of stressing over craft shows and fulfilling orders. Each time I thought about how things used to be, that same peace settled over me.
Entrepreneurship is full of sacrifices. Iāve made them. But my priorities have shifted, and Iām no longer willing to make those same trade-offs. This doesnāt mean Iāve closed the door on entrepreneurship foreverājust for now. Iām cherishing the time I have with my kids while theyāre still young, soaking in every fleeting moment.
Seasons change, priorities evolve, and thatās okay.
Hereās to honoring the lessons and growth from Neat-Dough while embracing this new chapter with gratitude and peace. šāØ
Thank you to everyone who supported Neat-Dough along the wayāyouāve made this journey so special. š

Iāve written and rewritten this post so many times in my head but struggled to post it because I wanted to make sure it was perfect. This month marks the end of a chapter for Neat-Dough and the beginning of the journey toward a new Neat-Dough.
Iām so grateful for the outpouring of love and support Iāve felt from our incredible family, friends and customers. Neat-Dough officially became a business in 2020 and a hobby business for a couple of years before that. I canāt tell you the number of people who have helped along the way by helping man booths at craft shows and festivals, made and rolled dough, put together kits, shared resources and ideas, connected me with opportunities and encouraged me along the way.
Running two businesses, keeping up with my growing kidsā busy schedules and still trying to enjoy life have led me to make some tough decisions, but decisions that I am excited about. Iāve scaled back on my marketing business and accepted a full time position as Marketing Director for a local orthodontist, McAllister Orthodontics. Iām excited for this new challenge and so happy to be part of the McAllister Orthodontics team.
So where does that leave Neat-Dough? As Iāve made transitions in my other business and professional life, I also realized it is time to make some decisions and changes when it comes to Neat-Dough. At the end of last year I decided that I would not be doing any events in 2024. That meant no Junkstock, no spring craft shows and no festivals. I was burnt out and those events are stressful to prep for and hard on the body, not to mention missing out on weekends with my family. Last week I moved out of Elevator, my warehouse space in Omaha. That was one more necessary step to scale back and allow myself to ponder what is next for Neat-Dough.
I will be taking some time to reimagine what Neat-Dough looks like as a business and where it fits in with my life. I will be holding a Warehouse Sale March 13-March 20. During that sale, I will offer deep discounts on products I currently offer and Iāll be clearing a lot of extra supplies I have. If you arenāt on my email list, please join now so you can be some of the first to get details about the sale.
This isnāt a goodbye, itās a shift. Itās time to refocus the business and to bring the joy back into why I loved this business to begin with - to help mommas and others who help kiddos - by bringing back the joy in creativity. Iām not sure yet how that will look but I know the reimagined Neat-Dough is going to be even more helpful to those of you who love Neat-Dough now.
