I often hear parents say things like, “My child only draws princesses,” or “He only likes drawing dinosaurs,” and so on.
But honestly, I’ve always felt that when a child truly loves something, it’s actually a very beautiful and precious thing. Because passion itself drives so many things, it inspires motivation to learn, sparks imagination, and helps children stay curious and connected to the world around them.
Just in terms of art, Chloe absolutely loves cats. Her home is full of them, and she’s surrounded by cats every day. This semester, the biggest breakthrough in her art growth came from drawing cats! Because of that genuine love, her improvement has been incredibly noticeable. She’s become more willing to observe, to express herself, and to truly enjoy the process of creating art.
A lot of the time, what really helps children grow is exactly this kind of heartfelt passion!
And honestly… isn’t that such a beautiful thing?

I’ve realized that smaller paintings often hold more delicate details.
Everyone has their own visible range, a space where they feel safe and confident. Exploring and discovering within that space, and harvesting from the little piece of land that feels familiar, can actually be something beautiful.
Just like Elaine, she paints slowly and never rushes. When she works on large pieces, she tends to lose control of the composition and feel lost in the process. So she simply chose to paint small. Unexpectedly, it was through those small paintings that the real Elaine began to appear, which I like it so much!☺️

Many times, I believe that giving children complete freedom will naturally lead to creativity.
However, in practice, too much freedom without guidance can leave students feeling lost, often repeating what they already know.
True artistic training is not about unlimited freedom, but about discovering personal expression within meaningful constraints.
When a student chooses to enter a learning environment, they are also choosing to be guided. These limitations are not restrictions, but opportunities to step outside of comfort zones.
For example, when students are asked to draw in unfamiliar ways, they may initially resist. But when they embrace the challenge, they often discover entirely new forms of expression.
Growth in creativity often happens at the edge of discomfort.
