Our Story

The philosophy of a child care center largely influences the types of activities, the curriculum and the kind of care that will be present in the Center. Therefore, it is imperative that parents become familiar with the philosophy behind the Center in order to understand the focus of the program. It is the philosophy of the Salem Little Saints CCCC that early childhood should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploring and discovery. Young children are creative and receptive; the staff strives to nurture and encourage these qualities in the children who attend the Center. We feel that the program should focus on the development of the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of each child. We feel that children should have opportunities to grow and build on those things that they “CAN DO” already. It is the role of the caregivers to build upon those things that children are able to do. We believe that most of life’s learning – including how to learn – occurs in the first five years of life. Since each child learns at his/her own pace, our staff will look to him/her to determine the next stage of development. This “CAN DO” viewpoint allows our society’s precious future to become confident and to enjoy successes in an atmosphere of respect, warmth and Christian love. Time and time again, research has shown that the main component of sound, quality child care is the trained, sensitive adult who is the caregiver. Through careful selection of a staff trained in early childhood development that value, respect, and sensitively respond to the unique needs that children hold, we feel that children will best learn. We respect parents as the most significant providers of care and nurturance. We are pleased to serve as extended family members.
