Creative Expressions Art Studio

Creative Expressions Art Studio “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” - Pablo Picasso

The five elements of this uniquely designed Arts program are:
Artistic perception;
Creative expression;
Historical and cultural context;
Aesthetic valuing;
Connections, relationships, and applications

• Artistic perception refers to processing, analyzing, and responding to sensory information through the use of skills unique to visual art.
• Creative expression involves creating a work with

students applying processes and skills in composing, arranging, and presenting a work and using a variety of means to communicate meaning and intent in their own original formal and informal works.
• Historical and cultural context concerns the work students do toward understanding the historical contributions and cultural dimensions of the Art discipline. Students analyze roles, functions, development in the discipline, and human diversity as it relates to that discipline.
• Aesthetic valuing includes analyzing and critiquing works of art. Students apply processes and skills to their own creations and also learn to critically assess and derive meaning from the work of a discipline, including their own based on the elements and principles of the discipline, aesthetic qualities, and human responses.
• Connections, relationships, and applications involve connecting and applying what is learned in one arts discipline and comparing it to what they see around them.
